Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Blues kick off and we are underway.

.00: The Chiefs have started strongly. They get the ball into the Blues half and attack.

.00: The Chiefs win a line out and set up a maul which makes about 10 m. The Chiefs recycle and Ma'a Nonu intercepts but is told he was offside so the Chiefs have a very kickable penalty.

.00: Aaron Cruden takes the penalty and nails it. The Chiefs lead.

.00:The Blues put the Chiefs under pressure in the Chiefs 25. The ball pops out at a line out and the Chiefs have to scramble to prevent a try.

.00: The Blues scrum concedes a penalty so the will have to start their attack all over again as the Chiefs clear the ball.

.00: Rene Ranger tries to run down the wing but the Chiefs shove him into touch. This is a physical game and there will be injuries no doubt.

.00: The Blues are winning the possession stakes. They put the Chiefs under plenty of pressure.

.00: After several phases of attack Francis Saili darts through two Chiefs tackles and slides in for the first TRY!

.00: Lachie Munro adds the conversion and the Blues lead.

.00: The Chiefs rush defence pays off as they chip through the Blues and Asaeli Tikoirotuma chases the ball, gathers it and scores. TRY.

.00: Aaron Cruden takes the conversion and misses. However since Liaki Moli charged the kick Cruden gets to take it again. This one he nails.

.00: The Chiefs have come to life. They get the ball into the Blues 25 and go through the phases. After sucking in all the forwards with several phases they spin the ball out to the backs but knock on. Handling errors so far Blues 2 Chiefs 3.

.00: The Blues have a 5m scrum but they push early so the ball is given to the Chiefs and the Blues get a warning. The Chiefs have the perfect opportunity to score again now.

.00: The scrum is good for the Blues. The Chiefs get the ball out at the back but its a mess so they pass the ball back and the Blues get a boot to the ball and kick downfield. In all the Blues disrupted the Chiefs scrum so much they had them on the backfoot for half the field.

.00:The Chiefs win a line out and they pass to Sonny Bill Williams who slices through the Blues, he passes but the ball goes to ground. Try opportunity missed.

.00: Penalty for the Chiefs. Cruden takes the kick and nail it.

.00: The Blues get a penalty this time so Lachie Munro takes the shot and nails it cutting the Chiefs lead by three.

.00: The Chiefs have the ball about 7m out and Sonny Bill Williams gets the ball. He twists and turns his way through the Blues and dives for the line and stretches and scores. TRY!

.00: Cruden adds the conversion and the Chiefs have a 10 point lead.

.00: The touchie's flag goes up for a tip tackle by Steven Luatua who is shown a yellow and a white card. He goes off and the Chiefs kick for touch.

.00: Maritino Nemani of the Chiefs tip tackles a Blues player so he too is shown a yellow card. Both teams down to 14.

.00: The Blues get the ball to Rene Ranger. He takes off and races away, sucks in the last Chiefs defender and passes to Lachie Munro who scores in the corner. Ranger magic at its best. His change of direction and pace totally caught the Chiefs.

.00: Munro takes the conversion kick and nails it to level the scores for half time.

It is half time.

The half time score was Chiefs 20 Blues 20

The second half is underway.

The attendance figure has come in at 20 200 here and at half time there have been no changes.

.00: The Chiefs put the Blues under some early pressure on the Blues 25m line. The Blues however get the ball back and kick it out so the Chiefs start their attack all over again.

.00: Raikuna on his first touch of the ball threatens down the wing but is shoved into touch.

.00: Penalty to the Chiefs. Cruden takes the shot from about 43 m out. He misses his first shot of the match.

.00: The Chiefs move the ball through the hands from almost their 5m line, Sonny Bill pops the pass out and sucks in two players, Cruden also has a deft pass and they get the ball to Tikoirotuma who races away to score his hat-trick try. "Champagne Rugby" as they say. Bonus point for the Chiefs.

.00: Cruden adds the conversion.

.00: A BIG fight breaks out so there will be a break while this is sorted out. The result is a  yellow for Michael Fitzgerald who threw about 10 or 12 punches on Peter Saili. He is shown a white card as well. Chiefs down to 14. Blues have a 5m penalty so they scrum.

.00: The Blues attack the Chiefs and flirt with the try line. Ranger has a go at the line as do several other Blues players but the Chiefs keep them out. Eventually Rudi Wulf scores TRY!

.00: Lachie Munro adds the conversion. It's seven point game again.

WOW. Rene Ranger splits the Chiefs and he looks like he is about to be caught and then skips through another line of defence and races away to score a brilliant individual try. Bonus point for the Blues too.

.00: Lachie Munro adds the conversion and the scores are level.

.00: Folks this match is extraordinary. There is a spell of broken play and the Chiefs chip ahead and there is a race between Rudi Wulf and Asaeli Tikoirotuma and Tikoirotuma wins and dots the ball down and scores his FOURTH TRY!

.00: The Blues are playing on, trying to keep the ball alive. They go through the phases in the Chiefs 25 still trying to get a break through. The final pass is forward. That's it. The Chiefs win.
