Chiefs winger Maritino Nemani has been cited for a tip tackle on Rene Ranger during the Chiefs 34-41 victory over the Blues on Saturday.

Nemani is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a Player from the ground and either dropping or driving that Player’s head and/or upper body into the ground

The incident occurred in the 35th minute of the match between the Blues and Chiefs at North Harbour Stadium on 2nd June when Nemani tackled Blues player Rene Ranger so that his upper body came into contact with the ground while their legs were still in the air.

The Referee for the match: Chris Pollock issued a Yellow and White Card for the incident.

Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play
