The Bulls have lost lock Flip van der Merwe for their final regular Super Rugby season match against the Lions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Van der Merwe sustained a hip injury against The Sharks in Durban last week and will not recover in time for the weekend's clash, the last regular Super Rugby clash of the season, Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed on Monday.

"Flip had a scan on Monday and it confirmed the injury. He will miss a week of rugby," Strauss said.

No other injuries have been reported from the side that travelled to Durban.
