The Hurricanes have added to their prop stocks ahead of the 2013 Super Rugby season after securing the signature of All Blacks and Crusaders front-rower Ben Franks.

Franks has signed a three year deal with the Hurricanes and is the fourth prop to be contracted to the franchise for the 2013 season along with Ben May, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen and Reggie Goodes.

He confirmed the move and spoke today before departing with the All Blacks to Argentina.

“This is a new and exciting opportunity for me. I am really looking forward to joining Mark (Hammett) and the team next year,” he said.

Hurricanes coach Hammett said, “Ben is a true professional in the game with a never-give-up attitude. On the field, he is uncompromising and hardworking.”

“Ben also understands what it means for play for the Hurricanes. He has strong leadership abilities and recognises the importance of being active in the community.”
