English Premiership Rugby club Saracens have confirmed that even though Brendan Venter will join the Sharks as Director of Rugby he will remain in his position with Saracens.
The Sharks announced earlier this week that John Plumtree will leave the Sharks after the current Super Rugby season and Venter will coach the Sharks from the start of the Currie Cup.
A full time coach is expected to be appointed by the Sharks to take over from Venter for the Super Rugby season.
Saracens said in a statement that, "Venter remains 100% committed to his responsibilities as Technical Director at Saracens."
The tatement added that, "The former Springbok has agreed to assist the Sharks provincial squad in Durban, but his ongoing role at Saracens is unaffected. "
"Communicating with the coaches on a regular basis and travelling to north London at least once per month, Venter will continue to play an important role within the running of the club," said the release.
However, as Sharks Director of Rugby Venter may find it difficult travelling back to London "at least once a month" during the Super Rugby season especially since the South African teams usually tour for five weeks.
