Former Super Rugby winning captain Victor Matfield will return to playing Super Rugby for the Bulls in 2014.
There were rumours in November last year that Matfield was set to make a return to playing rugby for the Bulls but the story died down in the same week.
However, Superxv.com the leading Super Rugby site has also seen evidence that Matfield will be part of the Bulls Super Rugby squad in 2014.
South African newspaper Die Burger has also reported that they have three credible sources that Matfield will play Super Rugby for the Bulls in 2014.
Matfield was unavailable for an interview when the paper asked for one on Friday but he did confirm that the Bulls and the Springboks will release a joint press release in due course.
Matfield's last match was for the Barbarians against the Wallabies in November 2011 after he had retired internationally for the Springboks after the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
The former line out king apparently wants to use the Super Rugby season to convince Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer that can still play international rugby as he wants to play in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Should Matfield's comeback be successful and if he does make the 2015 Rugby World Cup he would be 38 years old by then.
