Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says that he hopes the "stupid" actions of one fan will not tarnish Crusaders winger Nemani Nadolo's season.

Nadolo revealed on his Twitter account that he had been racially abused by a fan at a Christchurch bar.

The Crusaders returned to Christchurch after the Super Rugby final and were at a central bar where a group of fans who had been drinking approached them.

According to reports just one of the group used the slur to Nadolo who revealed his disappointment on his Twitter account in the early hours of the morning.

"After all I've done to contribute to tis lovely city of christchurch to be called a UN FIT CHUBBY NIGGA is disappointing. #hurtful," said Nadolo on Twitter.

Blackadder said that being attacked in the way that Nadolo was is "disgraceful".

"He was obviously upset by it and no one should have to tolerate that," Blackadder said. "It's just disgraceful."

"To say (that) you must be stupid or ignorant. It shouldn't reflect on everyone," Blackadder told Stuff.

Blackadder said that he was impressed with the way that Nadolo handled the situation as he did not react at the time or even tell him team mates what had happened and they did not hear the slur.

The Crusaders coach said that had Nadolo told his team mates what had been said the situation could easily have escalated.

"It just shows what a great man he is. He has forgiven the guy in himself."

Blackadder says that Nadolo does not plan on taking any further action against the racist fan who had been under the influence of alcohol.

"They played the final for all of us and for them to come home to this shouldn't tarnish an amazing season for Nemani."

"This is an anomaly," Blackadder said.

"These people that do this have no respect for themselves otherwise they would never say it."

Nadolo finished the Super Rugby season as the joint top try scorer but he has yet to sign with the Crusaders for another season and Blackadder hopes that the incident does not impact on his decision about playing Super Rugby for the Crusaders in 2015.
