Match detail

We are waiting for the kick-off.

The teams are out on the field.

BEEP! We are underway as the Rebels kick-off.

.00: The Rebels win a penalty and Reece Hodge calls for the kicking tee.

.00: It’s well wide from Hodge. He really should have kicked that.

.00: The Brumbies win a penalty and Wharenui Hawera kicks to touch.

.00: The Brumbies attack and win another penalty. Hawera kicks to touch, again. The Brumbies lose their own throw from Robbie Abel and Sam Carter can’t hold on.

.00: The Rebels’ turn to attack and they win a penalty after Scott Fardy is pinged for entering the side of the ruck. Hodge kicks deep inside the visitors’ 22.

.00: Oh dear, they lose their throw as well, however, the Rebels get another gift from referee Glen Jackson. Hodge will attempt another shot at goal from just wide of the right-hand post on the 22.

.00: PENALTY! Hodge, 3-0.

.00: The Brumbies win a penalty for Mitch Inman being offside. It’s near the hosts’ 10.

.00: Hawera pulls it to the left from in front. That’s a pretty poor kick by the standoff.

.00: TRY Sefa Naivalu! The winger takes the ball from Laurie Weeks, bursts through Joe Powell and tom Banks. He then beatsAidan Toua and scores. After being kept scoreless last week, the Rebels are rolling.

.00: Hodge adds the extras and it’s 10-0 to the Rebels inside the opening quarter. Good start by the hosts.

.00: Jackson is checking for foul play by Lopeti Timani on Rory Arnold.

.00: Yellow Card Colby Fainga’a! However, it’s Fainga’a who is sent to the bin. Jackson is still looking at Timani’s attempted knee to the head of Arnold.

.00: Yellow Card Lopeti Timani! That’s two yellow cards to the Rebels. That might hurt.

.00: The Brumbies win two penalties in quick succession and kick to touch. Yet again, they mess up their throw, Arnold loses the ball this time.

.00: The Brumbies have the ball after a poor kick and they attack.

.00: TRY Henry Speight! The Brumbies go through the phases and Jarrad Butler steps inside beats two defenders and sends the winger away down the sideline. Speight steps inside Hodge’s attempted tackle and is over. Great try!

.00: The conversion is missed by Hawera. The two extra men for the Brumbies were instrumental in speight’s try. The visitors flooded the breakdown and they had the extra man on the outside.

.00: Big scrum from the Brumbies, although, they were 8 v 7 in the pack and they win a penalty. Hawera kicks deep again.

.00: The Brumbies stretch the Rebels, pulling them left and right, all over the field searching for the gaps. They don’t get anything and lose the ball out into touch.

.00: Fainga’a and Timani re-enter the field after their 10 minutes in the sin-bin.

.00: Aidan Toua kicks ahead and is taken out by a defender without the ball. The ref doesn’t see it and the Brumbies have the lineout.

.00: The hosts lose the ball and the Brumbies will get the put in.

.00: The Brumbies go through some phases but lose the ball after Tevita Kuridrani’s loose pass. However, they had the penalty advantage for offside.

.00: TRY Jarrad Butler! Big scrum from the visitors and they push the Rebels over their try line. Butler picks up and dots the ball on the line for his fifth Super Rugby try.

.00: Hawera adds the conversion and the Brumbies lead with five minutes to go until halftime.

.00: Glen Jackson calls both captains for a chat about discipline. Mr Jackson is starting to lose his patience with the off the ball nonsense. Hodge will line up a kick from about 40 metres out.

.00: PENALTY! Hodge puts his team back in front.

.00: The Rebels have the ball deep inside their territory and win a penalty to ease the pressure. Robbie Abel is pinged for an illegal side entry to the ruck.

.00: The hooter sounds. The Rebels are attacking inside the Brumbies’ 22; the move has gone several phases and the Rebels are camped on the try line…

.00: TRY Sefa Naivalu! The winger has a double with a try in the corner after a dozen phases. But Mr Jackson will go to the booth to check if Naivalu stepped into touch.

.00: NO TRY! Naivalu is clearly in touch to the groans of the home support.

BEEP! Half time.

The half time score was Rebels 13 Brumbies 12

BEEP! We are back underway in Melbourne.

.00: Yellow Card Fereti Sa’aga! The prop disrupts a certain try-scoring opportunity for the Brumbies. The visitors were camped on the try line after 13 phases.

.00: TRY Henry Speight! The Brumbies opt for a scrum. Scrum-half Joe Powell breaks to the blind-side and draws Marika Koroibete from his wing and passes to Speight, who scores in the corner.

.00: Hawera can’t add the extras but the visitors have the lead after Speight’s sixth try of the season and second of the evening.

.00: Hawera steps through the defenders but fails to offload to Toua and the chance goes begging; poor from the standoff.

.00: Use it or lose it. James Hanson gets caught high and the Brumbies turn the ball over in the maul. Scrum to the visitors.

.00: Tom Banks takes the ball on the inside angle but loses it in the tackle. Scrum on the halfway to the Rebels.

.00: Lineout to the Rebels on the Brumbies’ 22.

.00: The Rebels win a penalty and Hodge will attempt to narrow the gap.

.00: PENALTY! Hodge from in front kicks the ball high and to the left. It deflects off the top of the left post and goes over.

.00: The game is tight and you get the feeling that both teams know that the next score is crucial. Some big tackles going in now.

.00: The game is being played between 22s as both sides look for the killer blow.

.00: Some substitutes entering the play and Hodge is receiving some treatment as the game winds down.

.00: The Rebels win a penalty after the Brumbies did not release. Hodge has a chance to put his team ahead from 51 metres out.
