Waratahs winger Wendell Sailor says he’s ready for a hostile reception when he meets his old team Queensland in Saturday night’s opening Super 14 match in Brisbane.

The Queensland Rugby Union has been using Sailor in its Super 14 marketing, with advertisements questioning why he left the Reds … but it’s denied calling on fans to boo him this weekend.

The QRU had billboards around Brisbane showing Sailor in a Waratahs shirt with the caption, ” Turn your back on Queensland. Never”.

Sailor says he hopes to silence the crowd with a good performance.

As long as you go out there and do your job I suppose people respect that. I don’t want to go up there and not play well because certainly it’s a great stadium and it’s going to be a great occassion.

“Its so disappointing that they have to resort to that but that’s footy and I support we’re all big enough to handle it.”
