Ex Queensland Reds and Brisbane Broncos winger Wendell Sailor has been seen around Queensland wearing a NSW Waratahs rugby jersey. Sailor isnt doing this in the flesh but his image has been digitally doctored showing him in a new advertising campaign for the Reds’ season-opening blockbuster against the 2005 Super 12 finalists at Suncorp Stadium on February 11. The campaign has a knock at Sailor and says, “Turn your back on Queensland? IncREDible!”

Two of the four billboards have been erected in the Queensland holiday centres of the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast to catch the eye of southern holiday makers during the festive season.

“I suppose they’re (the billboards) a bit cheekier than the usual, but we’ve got a new, expanded Super 14 competition, a lot of exciting new faces in the Reds team, an incredible new stadium for Brisbane home matches and a new look for 2006 season, so we’re going for it in our promotion as well,” Reds spokesman Tony Hancock said.

“Queenslanders are parochial and passionate to the point that they could not imagine themselves living in any other state, let alone representing another state, so we are really aiming to stir those emotions in the public.”
