Sharks beat Jaguares in Durban

The final match in the second round of Super Rugby this Saturday is in Durban where the Sharks host newcomers the Jaguares.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Joe Pietersen kicks off and we are underway.

3.00: The Sharks are awarded an early penalty so Joe Pietersen takes the kick. He nails it and the Sharks lead.

6.00: the Jaguares spread the ball down the wing and Emiliano Boffelli races down the wing to the corner and then cuts back in and scores under the posts. TRY !

Nicolas Sanchez adds the conversion and the Jaguares lead.

9.00: The Sharks win a penalty in the Jaguares 22. They choose the line out. They use the maul and drive over the tryline and score. TRY. Marcell Coetzee.

11.00 Joe Pietersen takes the conversion kick and nails it. Sharks lead.

14.00: Penalty to the Jaguares. Sanchez takes the shot and nails it. The scores are level.

17.00: the Sharks are caught offside in the Jaguares 22. Sanchez kicks for touch.

19.00: The Sharks try to attack down the wing but  Odwa Ndungane passes forward and into the hands of the Jaguares.

24.00: The Sharks are putting the Jaguares under pressure in their 22. The Jaguares are struggling to get out of their 22.

27.00: The Sharks win a penalty from the scrum in the Jaguares 22. Pietersen lines up the kick. He nails it. Sharks lead.

30.00:  The Sharks lose a line out on their throw but then the Jaguares lose the ball and the Sharks attack. Willie le Roux kicks upfield and the Jaguares boot the ball into touch.

31.00: Discipline is a problem for the Jaguares again this week as Rodrigo Báez is yellow carded for pulling down the maul.

32.00; The Sharks almost score but they are stopped with an illegal tackle. Pablo Matera is yellow carded so for the second week running the Jaguares are down to 13 players.

35.00: The Jaguares come away with the ball from the back of the scrum and they clear the ball to the half way line.

37.00: Wow. The Sharks attack but then Daniel du Preez loses the ball and the Jaguares run and then kick the ball ahead. Santiago Cordero comes from nowhere with incredible pace and scores – TRY!

39.00: Sanchez misses the conversion but the Jaguares are in front – with 13 players!

40.00: The Sharks attack in the Jaguares 22 but they lose the ball. The Jaguares counter attack but then boot the ball to Willie le Roux. The Sharks go through a couple of phases but they eventually take it into touch.

Sanchez kicks off and we are underway with the second half.

43.00: Jaguares back to 15 players. They added 5 points in the time they were down two players.

46.00: The Jaguares are looking dangerous with ball in hand. The scrums are not so good. They concede a penalty. The Sharks kick for touch.

The Jaguares earn a penalty as they don’t engage at the line out and the Sharks come up the side of the maul. They kick upfield but the Sharks get the ball and counter attack.

50.00: The Sharks kick across the field but Cordero is there. Jaguares get a warning for not rolling away. Penalty Sharks.

52.00: Pietersen takes the kick and nails it. Sharks lead.

53.00: The Sharks make ground in broken play but they eventually lose the ball and the Jaguares kick the ball to safety.

58.00: Both teams going to their benches. Montoya comes on for Creevy. Claasens comes on for Reinach.

59.00: The Sharks breakout with a run from Joe Pietersen but the Jaguares manage to stop the attack.

61.00: The Jaguares run the ball, their offloading is slick and they make ground as they go but the final pass is too loose and it goes to ground.

63.00: Joe Pietersen has another run from the back but the Jaguares stop him again. He has been the Sharks danger man. The Sharks continue the attack but then they lose it forward.

67.00: The Jaguares concede a penalty again from the scrum. Pietersen will kick for posts.

68.00: Pietersen takes his time but slots the kick.

72.00: Penalty to the Sharks. Pietersen takes the shot but he misses.

77.00: The Sharks are grinding down the clock now. The Jaguares want to run but the Sharks are suffocating them.

80.00: Its slow and not pretty but the Sharks keep the ball in hand and as the siren sounds Michael Claasens kicks the ball into touch.

Thats it. The Sharks win.
