Match detail

We are waiting for the kick-off.

.00: PEEEEP We are underway in Durban for this important clash.

.00: The Sharks need to win to qualify for a quarter-final match-up away to the defending champions Crusaders, a thankless task if ever there was one.

.00: Should they lose or draw, the Rebels will travel across the Tasman to Christchurch.

.00: It’s a bit scrappy in the early exchanges; lots of scrums.

.00: Big scrum from the hosts, who won a penalty at the set-piece.

.00: PENALTY! Robert du Preez puts the Sharks on the board. 3-0

.00: Dan du Preez takes the ball up into the Jaguares 22, but the momentum is lost, and so is the ball after a stray offload.

.00: The Sharks win a penalty under the posts.

.00: PENALTY! Du Preez doubles the lead. 6-0

.00: YELLOW CARD! Daniel du Preez is sent to the bin for a grass-cutter.

.00: PENALTY! Joaquín Díaz Bonilla halves the deficit. 6-3

.00: TRY! Armand van der Merwe breaks through the driving maul, slips a tackle and races 25 metres – a massive distance for a prop – and uses his momentum and the wet conditions to slide over the whitewash. 11-3

.00: CONVERSION! Du Preez adds the two. 13-3

.00: The Jaguares go close but lose the ball out.

.00: The rain is making Durban’s sandy pitch cut up. Scrums are struggling.

.00: Tendai Mtawarira is pinged for collapsing the scrum.

.00: The Jaguares go nine phases before knocking on. It was excellent defence by the Sharks, who are a man down, but seven points to the good. Dan du Preez is back on.

.00: Referee Rasta Rasivhenge is not happy with all the reset scrums; neither are we.

.00: The game is being played without intensity, it’s as if the Sharks don’t want to fly to New Zealand tomorrow and the Jaguares don’t care.

.00: TRY, NO TRY! It’s against the run of play, but we are also checking for foul play.

.00: NO TRY, no foul play! The ball went dead, so no try. 22 drop-out.

.00: The hooter goes.

The halftime score is Sharks 13 Jaguares 3

.00: PEEEEP! We are back underway in Durban.

.00: The sharks are having a field day; they have had all the possession and are dominating the visitors.

.00: Sharks opt for a lineout after winning a penalty. Strange call because they could take a scrum or the points.

.00: Sharks lose their lineout.

.00: MISS! Sharks decide for the posts, but the kick hits the post and bounces out. 13-3

.00: The Argentines take the ball up, but lose it before winning it back and kicking. Phew.

.00: Beast leaves the field; he’ll win his 150th Super rugby cap next week… if the Sharks win.

.00: TRY! THE BUS IS FULL! Jacobus van Wyk charges into the 22, bounces the defender and dots down with two Jaguares hanging off him. It came from Andre Esterhuizen’s midfield break and pass. WOW! 18-3

.00: CONVERSION! Du Preez slots the touchline conversion. 20-3

.00: Bautista Delguy runs his way out of trouble. We’ve seen him do this a thousand times, however, he had no support and the Sharks regain possession.

.00: The visitors are enjoying some possession and territory. They are going through the phases and are into the home side’s 22.

.00: TRY! Sebastian Cancelliere chases the kick and wins the race to the try-line. 20-8

.00: CONVERSION! The kick is good. 20-10

.00: The Sharks win a penalty near halfway. Curwin Bosch will take a shot.

.00: MISS! Bosch’s kick is wide. 20-10

.00: The South Americans are offloading in the contact, trying to breach this black wall.

.00: After 15 phases, the visitors put boot to ball, but it is snapped up by Bosch. The hosts counter-attack, but lose the ball forward.

.00: Scrum to the Jaguares inside their 5m. time is running out.

.00: The hooter sounds.

.00: Jaguares knock-on, and that’s the game.

Game over.
