Stormers lose Super Rugby trio to Europe

The Stormers Super Rugby trio of Kobus van Wyk, Jaco Taute and Rynhardt Elstadt have all signed for European Rugby clubs.

According to sources in South Africa the 24-year-old Van Wyk has agreed to join French Top 14 club Bordeaux with immediate effect and will be replaced in the squad by Blitzboks star Werner Kok.

Netwerk24 reports that Rassie Erasmus who is now in charge of Irish Province Munster has offered a contract to fullback Taute.

The contract is a short term contract for five months but has the option to be extended if Taute performs well and remains fit.

In the forwards Rynhardt Elstadt who has been a utility forward for WP and the Stormers is believed to have signed for Toulouse but the details of his deal are unclear at this stage.

Meanwhile a statement on whether coach Robbie Fleck has been appointed on a permanent basis is expected in the coming days.

    This bleeding–SA Super Rugby teams losing players to Europe–is very destructive to South African rugby. SARU needs to deal with it.
