Sunwolves fly half Tusi Pisi has agreed a move to England to play Rugby for Premiership hopefuls Bristol after parting ways with Suntory Sungoliath.

Pisi has agreed to play for Bristol on a two year deal and he will join the English club after his commitments to the Sunwolves have been fulfilled.

Samoan flyhalf Pisi has been with Suntory Sungoliath for seven years and has been one of the Sunwolves star players so far in their Super Rugby season.

Pisi’s brothers George and Ken Pisi both play Aviva Premiership Rugby for Northampton Saints.

The move to England rules Pisi out of contention for Super Rugby with the Sunwolves next season which is a massive blow to the new Asian side.

Pisi has made twenty-eight appearances for Samoa, while also representing Toulon, the Hurricanes and the Crusaders during a distinguished club career.

“Tusi is Samoa’s first choice fly half and a respected leader. He’s developed a reputation as an intelligent, level-headed fly half with a strong kicking game,” said Director of Rugby Andy Robinson.

“Tusi’s experience will be beneficial for our younger players and he remains as hungry and motivated as ever. We look forward to welcoming him to Bristol Rugby.”

Tusi first came to prominence as part of the New Zealand under 21 set-up.

He added: “I’m delighted to be joining Bristol Rugby and look forward to playing club rugby in England for the first time during my career.

“I have spoken to the Samoan contingent at Bristol and have heard great things so I’m excited to get involved and help the team attain success.

“I’ve enjoyed my time in Japan and the experience has helped me develop as a player. I still have much I want to achieve and I hope I can do that with Bristol.”

Bristol lead the Championship and are hopeful of returning the Aviva Premiership next season.

The Sunwolves are currently in South Africa where they are preparing to play the Southern Kings in Port Elizabeth.
