The Blues, who depart on a three-match tour to South Africa and Australia on Monday, will leave behind injured stars Saimone Taumoepeau and Luke McAlister.

Taumoepeau, a powerful prop with three All Black caps, is struggling with a calf strain and Luke McAlister, who is equally at home in the number 10 or 12 jersey, is suffering from a fractured cheek bone.

The Blues will play the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday, April 21, the Bulls in Pretoria on April 27 and the Western Force in Perth on May 4.

Other players not travelling with the squad are Anthony Boric, Onosa’i Tololima-Auva’a, Sam Biddles and James Somerset.

Coach David Nucifora said the squad is looking forward to getting away together as a group and they are well prepared for three totally contrasting opponents.
