The Waratahs 32-15 Super Rugby loss to the Brumbies in Canberra has come with a heavy cost as their injury list grows.

Waratahs replacement Bryce Hegarty is understood to have been ruled out for the season with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

Hegarty joined the Waratahs as cover for Bernard Foley from the Japanese Top League after leaving the Melbourne Rebels last year.

Tatafu Polota-Nau injured his wrist in an attempt to tackle Jarrad Butler but the early diagnosis is that he will miss up to eight weeks of Super Rugby.

Adding further pain for the is that Rob Horne sustained a knee injury and the team are waiting for a prognosis on the injury.

The Waratahs will also be sweating on the availability after TMO replays showed Tolu Latu throwing a punch which was not spotted by the officials at the time and a citing will most likely follow.
