Zeilinga starts at flyhalf for Cheetahs

Cheetahs coach Franco Smith has named his team to play in their season opening match against Argentina’s Jaguares in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Smith has named Francois Venter as captain of the side and Springbok lock Lood de Jager is named as vice captain.

The Cheetahs coach has also handed the flyhalf jersey to former Sharks back Fred Zeilinga with Niel Marais covering the position on the replacements bench.

There is no space in the squad for Sias Ebersohn who has returned to Bloemfontein from a stint in Australia with the Western Force.

The Cheetahs back three is made up of pacy wings Raymond Rhule and Sergeal Petersen and Clayton Blommetjies at fullback.

In the forward pack the Cheetahs will be able to lean on De Jager, Boom Prinsloo for experience.
