The New Zealand Maori swept aside a brave Scotland A in the final of the Churchill Cup in Edmonton running away with the title 52-17 in a distinct contrast to their previous victory in 2004.

In 2004 the Maori took the Churchill Cup in a nail-biting, extra-time defeat of England, but this year the Maori were rampant as they ran in seven tries in a completely dominant performance.

The New Zealanders were dominant in all facets of the game and signalled their mood early with bruising tackles from the likes of tournament MVP Liam Messam. In other cup action, Ireland A won the Plate Final by defeating the England Saxons 30-27 and Canada took out the Bowl final with a win over the United States Eagles 33-18.

Canada will no doubt view this win as a moral victory as they prepare for their August 12 World Cup qualifier versus their American neighbours.
