Lawrence Dallaglio has questioned whether Martin Johnson is qualified to fill the role of England team manager which has been created.

Twickenham bosses have authorised the recruitment of a team manager and another specialist coach with Rob Andrew earlier in the week and they are looking to fill both positions by the end of April.

Johnson, the only man to have led the British Lions twice and the only man from the Northern Hemisphere to captain a World cup winning team is the favourite to become manager but Dallaglio has reservations about his former team mate.

“He was a fantastic player, one of the world’s best players and one of the best the game has ever seen.” he told BBC Radio Five Live.

“But has he got enough hands-on experience working with a team in a different role to being a player?”

“I’m sure he could slip seamlessly into that role provided he surrounds himself with the people that possess the strengths that possibly he hasn’t got at the moment.”
