Matt Perry and Drew Mitchell have been added to the World XV squad for their encounter with the Springboks at The Walkers Stadium, in Leicester, on Sunday.

England international Perry and Wallabies utility back Mitchell joined the rest of the squad on Monday as they begin their preparations for the match against the South African tourists.

Perry, England’s most capped fullback and who plays for Bath in the English Premiership, replaces Springbok and Cheetahs utility back Gaffie du Toit, has withdrawn from the World XV for personal reasons.

Perry is enjoying a Benefit Year at Bath. Still only 29 years old, he has been at the club since the amateur days and is the club’s longest-serving player. In that time he has amassed well over 500 points, and has made over 200 starts for the First XV.

Mitchell comes into the side for fellow Australian international Ben Tune, who has been ruled out with a thigh injury.

Mitchell, a utility back that usually plays on the wing, has signed for the Western Force for the 2007 Super 14 season. He made his debut for Australia in 2005.

He made his Super 12 debut in 2004, playing for the Reds against the Highlanders. He went on to be joint-winner of the Australian Super 12 Rookie of the Year Award. He also captained the Under-21 Australian side at the Under-21 World Championship in Scotland.

The World XV side will be captained by former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio, one of several international stars who would be using the game to make the point that they still have something to offer to the national teams of their respective countries,.

The World XV include other seasoned stars like All Black Justin Marshall, Michael Owen (Wales), Andy Farrell (former Rugby League star), Gareth Cooper (Wales), Thomas Castaignede (France) and Cobus Visagie (South Africa).

It will be the second time that the two teams have come face to face with the Springboks getting the better of the World XV 30-27 when they met at Ellis Park in June of this year.

Also named for the World XV are Simon Shaw, Jonny O’Connor, Thinus Delport and Dave Hewett in a squad that boasts more than 500 international caps and has players from 10 different countries.
