New Zealand prop forward Tony Woodcock will be free to play for the All Blacks against Wales this weekend after a hearing on Wednesday decided he should not face fresh disciplinary action after a citing.

Woodcock admitted to an an act of foul play in that he struck an opponent with his hand in New Zealand’s 22-3 win against Ireland at Dublin’s Croke Park last Saturday.

While upholding the citing by the independent English citing commissioner Peter Larter and as accepted by the player, International Rugby Board judicial officer, Professor Lorne Crerar (Scotland) considered that the act of foul play did not warrant a red card and no further sanction was appropriate.

Woodcock was bracketed alongside fellow props Neemia Tialata and John Afoa when New Zealand’s former Wales coach Graham Henry announced earlier Wednesday his team to play the Six Nations grand slam champions at the Millennium Stadium this Saturday.

Tri-Nations title-holders New Zealand are half-way to sealing a ‘grand slam’ of wins over the four Home Nations having beaten Scotland, 32-6 at Murrayfield, before their comprehensive defeat of Ireland.

The All Blacks, whose second-string side were given a scare before beating Irish province and European club champions Munster 18-16 in Limerick on Tuesday, complete their tour against England at Twickenham on November 29.
