2019 Super rugby semi-finals confirmed

Following the four Super Rugby quarter-finals, the four semi-finalists for the 2019 Super Rugby tournament have been confirmed for next week.

The Crusaders and Jaguares finished the highest in the standings at the end of the regular season and since both won their quarter-finals they will again have home advantage in the semi-finals.

Semi-Final 1: Winner Quarter-Final 1 v Winner Quarter-Final 2
Semi-Final 2: Winner Quarter-Final 3 v Winner Quarter-Final 4

The Semi-Final hosts are the winners of the quarter-finals with the higher finals ranking.

Quarter-Final Results

Quarter-Final 1: Crusaders (1) beat Highlanders (8) 38-14 in Christchurch
Quarter-Final 2: Hurricanes (4) beat Bulls (5) 35-28 in Wellington
Quarter-Final 3: Jaguares (2) beat Chiefs  (7) 21-16 in Buenos Aires
Quarter-Final 4: Brumbies (3) beat Sharks (6) 38-13 in Canberra

Semi-Final Draw (all times local)

Semi-Final 1: Saturday 29 June
Crusaders (1) v Hurricanes (4) at Orangetheory Stadium, Christchurch (19:35)

Semi-Final 2: Friday 28 June
Jaguares (2) v Brumbies (3) at Jose Amalfitani Stadium, Buenos Aires (20:05)

Final: Winner SF1 v Winner SF 2


Finals Matches – Tiebreaking Criteria:

If the teams are tied at full time in any finals series match, then the following will apply until a winner is found:

Extra Time: played in two 10 minute periods with a two-minute halftime
Sudden Death: played for up to 10 minutes with the first team to score declared the winner
Kicking Competition: If no result comes from the sudden-death period a goal kicking competition will decide the winner
