2021 Super Rugby Trans Tasman previews Rd.3

on

Super Rugby Trans Tasman continues this weekend on Friday when the Hurricanes host the Western Force. The Blues lead the overall standings but are level with the Hurricanes as they both have 10 points.

The Crusaders are on 9 points and are in danger of not winning another Super rugby title as they have two teams ahead of them in the standings with the same number of matches ahead – this does not happen often to the Crusaders.

After two rounds the Super Rugby Trans Tasman champion for 2021 looks just about certain to be a New Zealand team as the Australian sides occupy the bottom of the standings and have yet to win a match. They would need an extraordinary series of events to win the tournament from here.

Unusually the top Australian side currently is the Western Force. As mentioned earlier though they face the joint leaders on Friday and the Hurricanes have won the last nine matches against the Western Force.

There are five matches this weekend with one on Friday, three on Saturday (Waratahs v Crusaders, Blues v Brumbies, Reds v Chiefs) and on Sunday the Highlanders host the Melbourne Rebels.
