British and Irish Lions lock Nathan Hines has been cited for a dangerous tackle in the match against the Emerging Springboks at Newlands on Tuesday.

Citing commissioner Steve Hinds of New Zealand alleged that Hines breached Law 10.4 (e) in the ninth minute of the match by lifting his opposite number, Wilhelm Steenkamp, in a tackle above the perpendicular and dropped him to the ground.

Steenkamp was not injured in the tackle.

Hines will appear before Judicial Officer Alan Hudson of Canada at 12 noon on Wednesday at the offices of the Western Province Rugby Union in Boundary Road, Newlands.

The match was drawn 13-13.
