France on Wednesday made wholesale changes to their team to face Australia, bringing in seven new players and reshuffling the backline after the drawn series with New Zealand.

Dimitri Yachvili and Lionel Beauxis replaced Julien Dupuy and Francois Trinh-Duc at scrum- and flyhalf while Pascal Pape replaces injured second row Sebastien Chabal.

“We know each other well, we play against each other a lot of times and we’ve tried to train well this week to make a good game on Saturday,” Yachvili said.

“We are professional, we can play with everybody. The most important thing is for the forwards to put a lot of pressure on this team and to go forward.”

Julien Puricelli comes in at number eight while Fabien Barcella, the only survivor from last week’s front row will line up alongside Sylvain Marconnet and hooker Dimitri Szarzewski.

Florian Fritz is also brought in on the wing with Damien Traille reverting to fullback from centre. France were due to announce their reserve players on Friday.

Coach Marc Lievremont said he hoped Beauxis would make the most of his opportunity at fly-half.

“He’s been a bit shy in the past so we’re asking him to become the boss of the backline,” he said.

“For two years we’ve been looking for a number nine and a number 10 … it’s been very difficult to find one so that’s why we used several No.10s and No.9s.

“Nothing has been decided yet. Even after this tour we are not sure we have found our two players.”

Mathieu Bastareaud, on the bench last week, has been forced out of the tour with facial injuries after being attacked in Wellington following last week’s defeat.
