South Africa’s most capped prop forward, Os du Randt, on Friday presented the Springboks with their match jerseys ahead of the second Test against the British and Irish Lions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Du Randt, who retired after the 2007 Rugby World Cup, played in the last Test series against the Lions in 1997.

“This is the only chance you will get to play against the Lions,” the former Bok prop told the players.

“One thing I always wanted to say was that I played in a side that won a series against them. You are an unbelievable side that plays for each other, so don’t let the opportunity to beat them pass. Go out and finish the job tomorrow.”

Du Randt added that while spectators’ expectations were high, the players should never doubt that the entire country is behind them.

“You are our heroes and it is a great honour for me to present these jerseys to you,” he said.

“Enjoy every moment when you are out there and make sure you don’t look back with any regrets.”

Thanking Du Randt, Springbok captain John Smit said: “Os is a role model to this squad in the way he conducts himself and through his passion for the jersey. Thanks for inspiring us.”
