Bath flyhalf George Ford is a mjor doubt for England’s three Test tour of New Zealand due to a shoulder injury.

Ford was tipped to start in the first Test against the All Blacks as Owen Farrell is expected to start in the Premiership final the week before the Test.

Ford needs to have surgery on his shoulder and he is likely to have to go under the knife after Bath’s Challenge Cup final against Northampton on Friday.

Twenty-one-year-old Ford’s absence on the tour could open the door for former England flyhalf Danny Cipriani or Freddie Burns

Owen Farrell and Stephen Myler will both be unavailable to their clubs reaching the Premiership final.

England will play the Barbarians on 1 June at Twickenham before heading to New Zealand for the four match series which includes a match against the Crusaders.
