Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) Chief Executive Gordon McKie has expressed delight at the standard of applicants to become Edinburgh’s new head coach.

The SRU are seeking a new permanent coach after parting company with Lynn Howells when a deal was struck to take the club back into SRU hands, after a year in private ownership.

A deadline of 5pm on Tuesday, August 21 has been set for all applications to arrive at Murrayfield.

“We have been impressed with the overall quality of candidates coming forward for this post,” said McKie.

“We recognise the need to identify a top quality head coach quickly for Edinburgh and so following next Tuesday’s deadline for applications, we plan to move ahead swiftly through a structured selection process to secure the ideal person.”

SRU Head of Player Development Henry Edwards is currently acting as interim head coach.
