All Blacks fined after late-night session

Six potential World Cup All Blacks have been fined and reprimanded after a late-night drinking session ahead of Saturday’s Tri-Nations and Bledisloe Cup finale at Auckland’s Eden Park.

According to NewstalkZB, whilst the players were fined for being out late, there was no reported misbehaviour from anybody.

Prop John Schwalger, locks Troy Flavell and Ross Filipo, scrum-half Piri Weepu, centre Conrad Smith and winger Rico Gear were the players involved – but none of them were set to play a role in Saturday’s Eden Park clash.

They were, however, fined NZ$500, with team manager Darren Shand confirming the incident to NewstalkZB.

The 30-man All Blacks squad will be named on Sunday, with Weepu and Smith the only definites amongst that group.

Schwalger faces competition from a fit-again Greg Somerville, Flavell and Filipo could be competing for one locking position, whilst the wing position is jam-packed, with Gear up against the likes of Sitiveni Sivivatu, Joe Rokocoko and Doug Howlett.
