Argentina have suffered a blow for their second Rugby Championship match against the Springboks in Mendoza as flyhalf Juan Martin Hernandez will miss the match due to a torn leg muscle.
Hernandez scored all of Argentina’s points in last weekend’s opened but suffered the injury towards the end of a training session in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.
Argentina coach Santiago Phelan had named a team with just one change by bringing in Martin Rodriguez at fullback in place of Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino.
However the loss of Hernandez could see either Nicolas Sanchez or Santiago Fernandez starting at fly half.
Phelan is expected to name Hernandez’s replacement and his bench after Thursday’s practice session.
