Australia beat Argentina on the Gold Coast





Out of the last five Rugby Championship matches between Australia’s Wallabies and Argentina’s Pumas Australia have won all five.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Bernard Foley kicks off and we are underway.

2.00: Australia put Argentina under some early pressure and they stretch the Pumas defence. Michael Hooper gets the ball outside the Pumas 22 but races through several tackles and scores. TRY!

3.00: Bernard Foley misses the conversion.

6.00: Australia doing nearly all of the attack but then they lose the ball and winger Manuel Montero beats one defender and races down the line beating two defenders and scores. TRY!

7.00: Nicolas Sanchez slots the conversion and Argentina lead.

12.00: Argentina win their scrum on the half way line. They look to move the ball down the line but Australia win a penalty at the breakdown after the first tackle. They kick for touch.

13.00: Israel Folau gets into space with the ball but loses it and the chance to score.

15.00: The Wallabies win a penalty. Bernard Foley takes the kick at posts and nails it. Australia lead again.

18.00: Penalty to Australia. Matt Toomua kicks for touch.

21.00: Australia continue to attack Argentina in their half. They win a penalty and take it quickly but the Pumas turn the ball over. We go back for a knock on.

26.00: The Wallabies handling is really starting to hurt them. They try to clear the ball down the line from the breakdown but knock on.

30.00: Argentina have a scrum in the Wallabies 22. They win the scrum but then they knock on.

32.00: Australia win the scrum and then work the ball to the half way line where they win a penalty. They kick for touch and the line out.

33.00: Australia win the line out. Bernard Foley gets close to scoring but then Australia concede a penalty for tackling a player without the ball. Argentina kick for touch.

35.00: Tevita Kuridrani almost gets through to score but is called back. Tatafu Polota-Nau is down injured which holds up the game.

37.00: Australia win a penalty almost in front of the posts. They will kick for posts. Tatafu Polota-Nau is really struggling.

38.00: Bernard Foley takes the penalty kick and nails it.

40.00: The siren sounds as Australia are awarded a penalty. They will kick for posts.

41.00: Foley slots the penalty. It’s half time.

Argentina kick off and the second half is underway.

43.00: Argentina kick the ball upfield. Australia counter attack with a chip kick but it goes to the Pumas and then to the ground. Michael Hooper grabs the ball and races for the line to score his second TRY!

44.00: Foley adds the conversion.

46.00: Argentina win a penalty. Sanchez takes the shot but misses.

48.00: Micheal Hooper concedes a penalty for Australia so the Pumas will have another shot at the posts. Sanchez takes the kick and nails it.

53.00: Penalty to Australia for joining the ruck incorrectly. Foley takes the shot and nails it.  Kurtley Beale has come on for Matt Toomua.  

57.00: Penalty to Argentina. Snachez takes the kick and slots it cutting the gap a little.

59.00: Australia get the ball to Peter Betham who races for the corner and scores whilst being tackled by Montero. The TMO checks and the TRY is awarded. Phipps make the break and passed to Betham.

60.00: Foley misses the conversion.

63.00: Argentina catch the Wallabies sleeping with a quick tap and they go wide and Marcelo Bosch scores the second Pumas TRY!

65.00: Sanchez slots the conversion and the Pumas are back in the match.

70.00: Australia win a scrum but then lose the ball. The Pumas recover the ball and chip it behind the Wallaby backs and chase. Joaquin Tuculet gets to the ball and scores. TRY!

71.00: Sanchez misses the conversion.

74.00: Penalty to Australia. Foley takes the shot and nails it extending the lead to 7.

76.00: Argentina continue to press at the Wallabies. Sanchez almost gets through but gets the ball away and the support knocks on.

78.00: Argentina win a penalty from the scrum 5m out. They choose to scrum again.

79.00: The scrum has to be reset and moved due to the turf being pulled up.

80.00: Argentina get a big shove but Australia get a free kick which they use to kick the ball out. Australia win.
