Australia beat Argentina in Rugby Championship




The second match in Round 4 of the Rugby Championship is in Perth where Australia’s Wallabies host Argentina’s Pumas.

Australia kick off and the match is underway.

0.42 : It’s a fast paced start from Australia as they go on the attack. Samu Kerevi goes for the corner and scores. TRY!

1.00: Bernard Foley slots the conversion.

4.00: Argentina go through 9 phases on attack but then they knock on.

6.00: Australia are on the attack and they chip ahead. Argentina get back and kick the ball into touch on the Argentina 22 line.

7.00: Australia win the line out and Quade Cooper slips a pass to Dane Haylett-Petty who slips inside, dodges one tackle and scores. TRY!

8.00: Foley adds the conversion.

9.00; Juan Manuel Leguizamon takes a knock and gets some help from the medics. He carries on. The game resumes with a scrum and Australia win a penalty for early engagement.

11.00: Australia pounce on a loose ball from a tackle. Genia kicks the ball upfield and chases. The ball bounces up perfectly for Genia and he scores. TRY!

12.00: Foley slots the conversion.

14.00: Argentina look to hit back. They work the ball to the Australian line. They go through 11 phases and as they had the advantage but can’t get over they are called back for the penalty.

15.00: Argentina kick to the corner for the penalty.

16.00: Australia win the line out and run it out of their 22 and they go into touch. At that point a fight breaks out and everyone piles in. The officials will have to sort it out. Argentina win a penalty for not releasing but both teams get a warning for running in and fighting.

17.00: Argentina take the line out. They run at Australia and go through the phases but concede a penalty for blocking. Australia kick for touch.

20.00: Penalty for Argentina against Australia. They will have a shot at the posts.

22.00: Nicolas Sanchez slots the penalty and the Pumas are on the board.

23.00: Penalty to Argentina as Reece Hodge goes for an intercept and knocks it down. Argentina kick for touch and the line out.

26.00: Penalty to Argentina. Sanchez takes the kick and hits the post. It goes into touch.

28.00: Argentina have the ball and they go through 5 phases but get pressed back and on top of a player who is receiving treatment so the game is paused.

29.00: The game resumes with a scrum for an earlier knock on. Argentina win a penalty from the scrum. They run it.

30.00: Argentina go through 11 phases on attack and get the ball into Australia’s half. The ball is taken into touch.

32.00: Argentina win the line out and start going through the phases again.

33.00: Scott Sio is yellow carded for a professional foul. Sanchez slots the penalty.

35.00: Australia get some rare ball on the attack but they knock it on in the tackle (Mumm).

37.00: Argentina continue to attack Australia but they are battling to get into Wallabies territory.

38.00: Argentina move the ball through the hands but as they get to the Australian 22 they pass the ball forward.

40.00: The siren sounds for full time and Quade Cooper kicks it into touch.

41.00; Australia win a penalty. Reece Hodge kicks for touch to set up the line out.

43.00: Argentina attack down the wing after a scrum. Joaquín Tuculet makes ground and the Pumas pass the ball out wide and Santiago Cordero slips through a tackle and scores. TRY! Juan Manuel Leguizamon took a heavy blow in the process of that so he gets some help from the medics.

44.00: Sanchez hits the post with the conversion but it still goes in. Sean McMahon is on and it looks like David Pocock is off.

45.00: Australia chip the ball ahead but Tuculet gets back to secure it. The ball is kicked back upfield where Augustin Creevy takes a blow and has to come off.

47.00: Genia has a run for Australia and then kicks behind Argentina and chases but the Pumas get back to secure it. The ball is kicked back and Cooper kicks across the field.

48.00: Penalty to Argentina. They take the line out. Stephen Moore has been replaced by Tatafu Polota-Nau.

50.00: The Pumas knock on which gives Australia a scrum. It has to be reset.

51.00: Australia win the scrum and charge for the line as they catch Argentina’s defence sleeping. McMahon almost gets through but on the second phase Will Genia goes over for his second TRY!

53.00: Foley hits the post with the conversion. However the Pumas charged too early so he has another shot. This one he misses too.

59.00: Tom Robertson comes on to make his Test debut and Rory Arnold comes on too.

63.00: The Wallabies set up their attack in  Argentina’s half when Polota-Nau goes on a charge. An inside pass is slipped to Michael Hooper who scores. TRY!

64.00: Foley takes the conversion kick and nails it.

67.00: Quade Cooper tackles Nicolas Sanchez with no arms without the ball so he is yellow carded.  Sanchez goes for a head check and Argentina kick for touch. Lopeti Timani comes on for his Test debut.

70.00: Argentina press Australia back into their 22 but when they get to the line they knock on.

71.00: Scrum penalty to Argentina. They kick for touch on the 5m line.

72.00: The Pumas win the line out and drive over the line. The TMO will review for a double movement. It’s a TRY for Facundo Isa.

72.00: Sanchez slots the conversion.

73.00: Penalty to Australia for offside. Hodge will have a shot to take up time and potentially take the lead to 16. He nails it.

76.00: Argentina attack with ball in hand but there is a knock on so Australia have a scrum. Cooper comes back on.

78.00: Argentina get a free kick from the scrum but then knock on.

79.00: Argenrtina run with the ball but time runs out as the siren  sounds.

80.00: They keep attacking after the siren. Penalty to Australia. Foley kicks it into touch.
