Australia has played New Zealand 193 times since 1903, the Wallabies have won 50 matches, but lost 135, and drawn eight.
The Wallabies’ 44 wins give them a measly 26% winning record against the All Blacks.
- New Zealand once again retained the Bledisloe Cup; they have now held the famous trans-Tasman trophy for 18 years since 2003.
- This is the fourth Bledisloe Cup clash of 2020 (All Blacks lead 2-0) and the second Tri-Nations Rugby Championship Test match of the southern hemisphere international season.
- New Zealand has won each of their last two Tests against Australia, restricting them to a single-figure score on each occasion.
- The last time the Kiwis held the Wallabies to fewer than 10 points in more consecutive Tests was an 11-game stretch from 1957 to 1964.
- Australia has lost only one of their last four Tests against New Zealand at Suncorp Stadium (W2, D1), and picked up a 23-18 win over the All Blacks in their last meeting there (October 2017).
- Australia is winless in their last four Tests (D1, L3); the last time the Aussies went more than four games without a win was a six-game losing streak from October 2015 to August 2016 which included three losses to New Zealand.
- Australia has won their last six Tests at Suncorp Stadium and has not lost at the venue since June 2016 against England (39-28).
- New Zealand’s 43-5 win in the first game of the 2020 Tri-Nations means that they are now on the cusp of multiple Test wins in Australia in a single calendar year for the first time since 2010.
Player milestones and stats:
- James Slipper is set to play his 100th Test, becoming just the 13th player to reach a century of appearances for Australia; his 51 caps from the bench are the joint-most of any player in Wallabies history (alongside Tatafu Polota-Nau).
- Filipo Daugunu has made eight clean breaks throughout the 2020 Bledisloe Cup games, two more than any other player.
- Michael Hooper has scored five Test tries at Suncorp Stadium, more than any other forward; only Israel Folau (7) and Stephen Larkham (7) have scored more at the venue.
