Tasesa Lavea has lost it. He has lost his confidence and this has caused him to lose to starting position for the Blues.

Coach David Nucifora has moved Isa Nacewa to No 10 for Friday’s Super 14 clash with the Bulls in Auckland.

Lavea’s change is one of three personnel changes and one positional change in the starting line-up to meet the Bulls.

Braid and Howlett are both not 100 % fit and Luke McAlister has been ruled out with a shoulder injury. Steve Devine remains out of contention with a head injury.

The Blues have had an awful season for past Champions and injuries have not helped matters. This week’s opponents, The Bulls don’t generally travel well so the Blues have to gel this weekend at home.

Nucifora said Lavea was lacking confidence.”When any player starts to lose his confidence, it’s an accumulative affect. Tasesa has felt under a lot of pressure and it’s obviously affecting the way that he is reading the game and playing the game on the day,” said Nucifora.

“When you start to second-guess yourself, you don’t have the time at this level of football. He just needs to step back and regain his confidence. He is still a good footballer, there is no doubt about that and he will come back.

“He just needs a rest, he needs a break. I think a fresh body and a fresh pair of eyes in there seeing the game will make better decisions.”

Lavea has been given a place on the bench with Ben Antigua.
