Match detail
We are waiting for the kick off.
In the meantime why not have a look at the match preview.
The Blues kick off and the match is underway.
.00: After a minute of play the Chiefs knock on and Mitchell Brown takes a knock. The medics come in and sort him out. He carries on.
.00: The Blues win the scrum and Ma’a Nonu attempts to bash his way through but the Chiefs stop him and turn the ball over. The Chiefs boot the ball into touch and to safety.
.00: The Blues win the line out and attack. They get the ball to the 5m line and put the pressure on. The Chiefs intercept a pass but they were offside so the Blues have a penalty in front of the posts 5m out. They choose the scrum.
.00:The Blues win the scrum. Akira Ioane runs it. When the ball goes out to Nonu it goes to ground and the Chiefs kick it ahead. There is a super fast chase for the ball and Brad Weber chips it ahead. The Blues get to the ball but have to carry it over the line and dot it down – it’s a Chiefs 5m scrum. What a turnaround.
.00: The Chief put the power on in the scrum, they win the ball and move it out wide. About halfway to the wing they cut in and go for the line. The pack comes and drives Jesse Parete over the line. The TMO will have to decide if the ball was held up. It was held up according to the TMO. Scott Scrafton could have held that up.
.00: The Chiefs win the scrum and move the ball out wide with a skip pass to Etene Nanai-Seturo who goes over in the corner but it’s no try as the pass was forward.
.00: The Blues win the scrum but the Chiefs charge down the Blues clearance kick. 22 drop out.
.00: The Blues press the Chiefs all the way up-field and to the 5m line where they win a penalty. They take the line out. The Blues fail to control the ball and it is lost forward. Chiefs scrum.
.00: The Chiefs run the the ball and break through the Blues defence (Angus Ta’avao) and and chip it upfield. There is a chase and Melani Nanai gets back to it but is tackled. The ball is coughed up and he tries to pass the ball but it lands perfectly into Mitchell Karpik’s hands and he drops to the ground and scores. TRY!
.00: Marty McKenzie rushes the conversion and misses.
.00: The Blues keep the pressure on and go through the phases inside the Chiefs 22. 11 phases but then it goes wide and to ground and then into touch. The game is paused as Mitchell Karpik has taken a knock and has some blood leaking from his head. He got that from a head clash with Nonu. Karpik comes off for blood and that sees Sam Cane come on.
.00: The Blues go through the phases again and they build up real momentum inside the Chiefs 22. But then TJ Faiane loses the ball. The Chiefs pounce and get the ball to Anton Lienert-Brown and then to Shaun Stevenson who looks certain to score BUT Caleb Clark somehow catches him and kills the attack.
.00: The Blues get the ball inside the Chiefs 22. They get through the Chiefs line and have the overlap. Harry Plummer sells a dummy but goes for the line. He is tackled but slides over the line and scores. The TMO confirms. TRY!
.00: Plummer takes the conversion kick from the touchline. He misses. The scores are level at 5 all.
.00: Penalty to the Chiefs. McKenzie takes the kick and nails it. The Chiefs are back in the lead.
.00: Mitchell Karpik has passed his head assessment so Sam Cane will come off at the next opportunity. Karpik looks like he has been in a war. Stitches and head heavily bandaged.
.00: The Blues go on the attack and go for the corner. They are tackled into the corner and go over. On field decision is a try but the TMO will check has Nanai scored. There is no real evidence that he got the ball down but the try is awarded as someone says they saw the grounding. Regardless its a TRY!
.00: Plummer hits the post and out with the conversion.
.00: The siren sounds for half time. There is time for a scrum. Cane is off. Nonu has some bandaging around his head too.
