Utility back Gcobani Bobo is in the process of finalising a contract with the Stormers, after he opted not to renew his contract with the Sharks this year.

Reports that Bobo would be making the move to Cape Town seemed wide of the mark when Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus said that negotiations had fallen through, but now it appears that he will be joining the Newlands-based side after all.

“We are working out the finer details of the contract at the moment,” Western Province media manager Gavin Lewis, told this website.

The 28-year-old, who made his Bok debut in 2003 against Scotland, was the captain of Cape Town school Rondebosch High’s first team the last time they achieved back-to-back victories over rivals Bishops.

Bobo, who was also the first black player to captain both the South African Under-17 and Under-19 teams, will make his return to the Cape 10 years after leaving the Province to further his career with the Lions.

He later moved to the Sharks.
