Boland hooker Harry Vermaas has passed a fitness test, and will be available for Friday night’s Currie Cup match against the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld.

Vermaas, a former Blue Bull, sustained a knee injury against Griquas on Saturday and was a doubtful starter for the Bulls match.

But team manager Denver Pienaar confirmed that Vermaas passed a fitness test and that he is ready to face his former team-mates.

“Harry’s injury was less serious than we thought and he passed his test with flying colours,” he said.

Vermaas’ fitness is a small blessing for coach Deon Davids has already lost prop Jean Botha and No 8 Dries van Schalkwyk with injuries.

They will be operated for hip and shoulder injuries respectively.
