Boland Kavaliers coach Deon Davids Thursday eventually named his starting line-up after a long delay because of injuries and flu, for their Currie Cup match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Justin Peach, Elgar Watts and Nico Esterhuyse spent most of the week in bed with flu and Davids is therefore holding thumbs they will not run out of steam.

With Dewey Swartbooi still sidelined and Lionel Cornelius’ right leg in plaster, Davids had to settle for a new centre combination.

Cornal Hendricks returns from injury, while former Valke centre Ernie Kruger, will partner him in midfield.

Kruger was used on the left wing in the Kavaliers’ last two outings.

At scrumhalf Danie van der Merwe comes in for Marnus Hugo, who will be sidelined for between two to four weeks with a knee injury.
