The Boland Kavaliers are set to target the lineouts when they face the Leopards in a Currie Cup match at Potchefstroom on Friday.

Although the Wine Farmers lost 59-8 to the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last weekend, coach Deon Davids is over the moon with his side’s performance in the lineouts.

“We did fantastically well in that department. We took eight balls off the Cheetahs which is something to be proud of.

“I don’t think any other side competed so well against the Cheetahs in the lineouts so far.

We need to compliment Nico Esterhuyse and Rito Hlungwane on a job well done,” Davids said.

The Boland locks would therefore hope to repeat their dominance against the Leopards. With their new-found confidence, they could unsettle the rhythm of the home team who is deperate for their first Currie Cup win. Davids, however, is expecting a huge onslaught.

“We know Chaka’s (Willemse) team will come down hard on us.

“But we are prepared to fight fire with fire and are confident to beat them for a second time this season,” Davids said.

The Kavaliers side will be announced on Wednesday.
