The Boland Kavaliers are holding thumbs their first-choice props, Janro van Niekerk and Kobie Adriaanse, would be fit for next Saturday’s Currie Cup rugby match against neighbours Western Province in Wellington.

Both missed last Friday’s match against the Golden Lions due to ankle injuries.

In their absence Johan Roets and Jané du Toit scrummed down in the front row. Coach Deon Davids also said a lot of time in the next few days will be spent on his side’s finishing and handling.

On five occasions poor handing let the Kavaliers down with the tryline begging.

“We can no longer afford not to make use of our chances. Against Province we will have to make sure we get points on the board when the opportunity arises,” Davids said.

Boland, playing in only their second home game of the season, gave a much improved performance and clearly showed it is not a matter of Western Province just driving to Wellington and pick up five points.

Over the years Boland have made Province struggle at Wellington and next weekend’s match could prove to be no exception.
