Bulls wing Bryan Habana will be on the sidelines for three to four weeks after breaking his hand in the 16-9 win over the Lions in a Super 14 match in Johannesburg on Saturday

A further setback is that young Bulls flank Dewald Potgieter could miss the match against the Stormers at Loftus Versfeld this coming weekend.

The Bulls confirmed on Sunday that Habana had broken his hand and will be operated on Monday.

The Springbok wing left the field after 55 minutes on Saturday.

With the Bulls having a bye the week after the Stormers match before they start their Australasian tour, it is possible Habana will miss only two matches – against the Stormers and against the Hurricanes in Wellington on March 20.

There is a chance he will be fit for the match against the Highlanders the following week.

Potgieter has been diagnosed with a sterno clavicular injury and is in a race against time to play in the Stormers match.

Fourie du Preez’s reported fears that he may have injured his hand again have been allayed and according to the Bulls media manager Ian Schwartz there are no other serious injuries to Bulls players following the tough match in Johannesburg.
