Eight weeks into the tournament and the Cheetahs finally get a home game. It seems unbelievable but it is surely unfair.


The last placed Cheetahs have not won a match since this week a year ago. On April the 5th last year they beat the Reds in

The match is underway.

 

2.00: Straight from the kick off the Brumbies try to play their fast paced attack.

 

5.00: Christian Lealiifano gets the Brumnbies on the board with a drop goal.

 

8.00: The Brumbies manage to open up the Cheetahs defence and come close to scoring but George Smith just knocks on at the line.

 

10.00: Christian Lealiifano gets the ball after a scrum and sidesteps two Cheetahs defenders to run in what looks like a fairly easy try.

 

10.00: Stirling Mortlock slots the conversion.

 

12.00: Mitchell Chapman opens up the Cheetahs defence and makes it look easy. A last gasp tackle saves the try.

 

13.00: The Brumbies drive over the try line so we upstairs to see if a try has been scored. No try. Brumbies 5m scrum.

 

21.00: Better play from the Cheetahs see them working the ball into the Brumbies half.

 

23.00:  Jacques-Louis Potgieter manages to find some space in the Brumies defence. As the support comes they swing it wide but knock the ball on. The Cheetahs however get a penalty for offside.

 

 24.00:  Jacques-Louis Potgieter slots the penalty.

 

28.00: The Brumbies are awarded a penalty for “lazy running” so Stirling Mortlock takes the kick and slots it.  

 

31.00: The Cheetahs step up the pace a little. They catch the Brumbies offside so  Jacques-Louis Potgieter takes the kick and slots it.

 

32.00: Mark Chisholm comes off holding his arm.

 

34.00: Jongi Nokwe scores the Cheetahs first try after they create the overlap on the wing.

 

35.00: Jacques-Louis Potgieter adds the conversion.

 

37.00: The Cheetahs get another penalty so Jacques-Louis Potgieter  takes the kick but misses.

 

38.00: The Brumbies go on attack but Peter Kimlin knocks the ball on in the tackle.

 

39.00: Stirling Mortlock gives penalty away for an intentional knockdown. Jacques-Louis Potgieter takes the kick and misses. Half time.

The Second half is underway. Juan Smith has come on for the Cheetahs.

 

41.00: The Cheetahs get an almost perfect start as the Brumbies give away a penalty.

 

47.00: The Cheetahs think they have scored a try but they are called back for offside.

 

47.00: Mark Gerrard scores the Brumbies second try after showing some good soccer skills.

 

48.00: Stirling Mortlock takes the conversion and slots it.

 

50.00: The Brumbies attack again and swing it wide. They keep the alive and Peter Kimlin finds a hole and scores the Brumbies third try.

 

51.00: Stirling Mortlock converts the try.

 

56.00: The Brumbies get the bonus point try as Josh Holmes scores under the posts.

 

57.00: Stirling Mortlock again slots the conversion.

 

59.00: The Cheetahs are not finished yet. Danwel Demas rolls over in the tackle and scores the Cheetahs second try.

 

60.00: Jacques-Louis Potgieter slots the conversion.

 

61.00: George Smith gets a yellow card for obstructing a Cheetahs player on attack so he goes to the bin for 10 minutes.

 

69.00: A Brumbies player gets some attention on the field which holds the game up. Gene Fairbanks comes on for Christian Lealiifano.

 

72.00: Mark Gerrard tries for a drop goal and slots it.

 

74.00: Fabian Juries has a sniping run which looks as if a try is certain to be scored but drops the ball in the process.

 

78.00: The Brumbies get a penalty so Mark Gerrard takes the kick and slots it.

 

80.30: The siren goes for full time. The Cheetahs however have a free kick. They keep the ball alive and Wayne van Heerden runs in a consolation try.

 

81.00: Jacques-Louis Potgieter slots the conversion.
