Brumbies beat Reds in Canberra

The Queensland Reds have won four of their last five Super Rugby matches against the Brumbies (L1), including their last three in succession despite trailing at halftime in each of those games – it’s the Reds’ longest winning run against the Brumbies in the history of their rivalry.

The Queensland Reds will be aiming for back-to-back away victories against the Brumbies for just the second time in the history of Super Rugby (May 2012), following their 40-38 win in their most recent meeting (Round 4, 2021 Super Rugby AU).

  • The Brumbies are unbeaten in Super Rugby Pacific. Dan McKellar’s men will be aiming to begin a Super Rugby season with five straight victories for just the second time in the history of the competition, having won five in succession to start the 2002 campaign.
  • The Reds are alson undefeated in Super Rugby Pacific. Brad thorn’s side will be aiming to begin a Super Rugby season with five consecutive wins for the second time after opening the 2021 Super Rugby AU campaign with seven straight wins.
  • The Brumbies (14) and Queensland (8) have scored more tries from a lineout than any other teams this season.
  • The Brumbies (16) and Reds (14) have retained possession on the joint-most and third-most kicks in play respectively of any other teams in the 2022 campaign (also Crusaders – 16).
  • Queensland’s players have made a combined three assists via kicks in the 2022, as many as the rest of the competition combined (Brumbies – 1, Hurricanes – 1, Western Force – 1).
  • The Queensland Reds (9) and Brumbies (8) have won the second and third-most turnovers per game respectively of any teams in the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season (Moana Pasifika – 10).

  • Queensland Reds’ duo James O’Connor (4) and Hunter Paisami (3) and Brumbies’ Nic White (3) are the three of the four players to have made more than two assists in the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season (Issak Fines-Leleiwasa – 3 for Western Force).
  • Harry Wilson has made dominant contact on 15 carries in the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season, more than any other player in the competition. The Brumbies’ best Tom Banks (14) is ranked joint-second in this category (also Mark Telea – Blues and Apisalome Vota – Fijian Drua).

40.00: Another scrum penalty, this time for the Brumbies. The ref has had enough, stopping the clock and pulling both front rows aside to warn the six players. Cards will be coming soon. Banks kicks to the 22. Nothing comes from the attack as Jahrome Brown knocks on.

50.00: Neither side is getting any consistency at scrum-time, they are leaking penalties at an alarming rate.

52.00: NO TRY! Reds collapse the driving maul allowing Banks to set up another on the 5m. The Reds repell the attack before Jahrome Brown collects a loose ball from the side of the ruck to score in the corner.
