Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has selected his strongest available team for Friday’s warm-up match against the Cheetahs which will take place in the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Victor Matfield leads a star studded team that includes fellow Springboks such as Bakkies Botha, Pierre Spies, Fourie du Preez, Bryan Habana, Wynand Olivier and Gurthr’ Steenkamp while Danie Rossouw will be used as an impact player off the bench.

Jaco Pretorius was the coaches’ first choice to wear the number 13 jersey but because of a niggling calf injury a call on his availability will only be made later the week.

Dr Org Strauss said on Wednesday that Pretorius has recovered from his back injury but his calf is giving him some trouble and therefore a decision on whether he will be able to be used as a substitute will only be made later the week.

With doubts over Pretorius’s availability Marius Delport is going to partner Wynand Olivier in the midfield with Zane Kirchner and Akona Ndungane combining with Habana to form a potent back three.

Among the forwards Dewald Potgieter got the nod as Spies and Stegmann’s partner in the loose trio while Derick Ku’n will start at hooker with Chiliboy Ralepelle on the bench.

Bulls: Zane Kirchner; Akona Ndungane, Marius Delport, Wynand Olivier, Bryan Habana; Morn’ Steyn, Fourie du Preez; Pierre Spies, Dewald Potgieter, Deon Stegmann, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, Werner Kruger, Derick Ku’n, Gurthr’ Steenkamp.

Reserves: Chiliboy Ralepelle, Frik Kirsten, Dean Greyling, Danie Rossouw, Heini Adams, Burton Francis, Wayne Julies, Gerhard van den Heever, Braam Gerber / Jaco Pretorius, Jacques Burger, Wilhelm Steenkamp
