The Bulls have lost the services of inside centre Wayne Julies who has been ruled out for entire 2008 Super 14.

Bulls team doctor Tommie Smook says on the Bulls website that Julies had to undergo an operation and he will not be able to play for at least six months.

Julies had the operation on the 20th of December after his knee troubled him for almost three months.

This means that Wynand Olivier and Stefan Watermeyer will be their inside centres while the Bulls say that Morn’ Steyn is also capable of playing in the midfield.

Meanwhile Smook says that he will continue to work as team doctor for the franchise until the end of the Super 14 because he knows all the players, he knows their injury history and he will be of tremendous help to the new coaches.

Smook says the only other injured players at this stage are Gurthr’ Steenkamp (forearm) and Bakkies Botha (ankle).

“Gurthr’ as well as Bakkies will probably start playing in March and Pierre Spies will have to undergo another series of blood tests in the near future but we are confident that he will also be back in March.”
