Bulls re-sign three stars for Super Rugby




Pretoria based Super Rugby franchise the Bulls have signed extended contracts with three players including Rugby World Cup bronze medallist and Springbok scrumhalf Rudy Paige.

Paige joins Junior Springbok and utility back Warrick Gelant and upcoming midfield star Burger Odendaal who have all committed to the Bulls till October 2018.

“There can be no doubt that these players are sought after and we are grateful that they committed to remain part of the BullsFamily, ” said BBC High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg.

“We are busy building something special with a new generation of players and I am very pleased to have these guys staying on to help us with that process. It is comforting to know that world class players like Rudy, Warrick and Burger see a future with us and is committed to help us achieve in our goals to become a special team. ”

Meanwhile the Bulls have also agreed a two month contract pending a medical with former Southern Kings and Sharks outside back SP Marais who opted out of an EP Kings contract recently and has just recovered from a knee injury. Should he be cleared, he will join the Bulls player roster for at least the next two months. The fullback wing has 35 Super Rugby caps to his name.

Prop Hencus van Wyk will be part of the Bulls until May. He is contracted in Japan, but a call will then be made if the contract will be extend or whether Van Wyk will return to his Japanese club duties.

Van Wyk played in his second Super Rugby match on the weekend, when he came on as a replacement in the season opener against Stormers in Cape Town.
