The Blue Bulls have decided to release scrumhalf JP Joubert from his contract with immediate effect.

Joubert will play for the Free State Cheetahs in the remainder of the Currie Cup and he will start training with the Bloemfontein franchise on Tuesday afternoon.

Joubert, who also represented the SWD Eagles, Griffons, Griquas, Boland as well as the Stormers, says it has been an unbelievable experience playing for the Blue Bulls since he arrived at Loftus in July 2007.

“All in all I had a great time in Pretoria. The supporters have been fantastic and I loved living in Pretoria.

“It was a privilege to play with so many great players and although I did not get as much game time as I wanted, the whole experience has helped to build my character.”
