The Bulls ended the Brumbies hopes of a play off place when they beat the Brumbies at Loftus Versfeld by 28 points to 17.

The Bulls scored three tries to the Brumbies two and led thoughout the match after going into the half 18-10 up.

Again indiscipline cost the Bulls as two players were sent to the bin. Wikus van Heerden won man of the match.

The Bulls showed their intent as early as the third minute when centre JP Nel sprinted for the line with the Brumbies defence in tatters.

In the 12th minute, Steyn slotted over a penalty from within his half to extend the Bulls’ lead to 8-0 before the Brumbies hit back with a try by Alister Campbell in the 20th minute.

Moments before Campbell’s try, Bulls fullback Zane Kirchner was shown the yellow card by referee Steve Walsh for a dangerous tackle on Brumbies wing Afusipa Taumoepeau.

However, the Bulls quickly re-gathered and in the 23rd minute Wikus van Heerden was awarded a try by the television match official after scoring from the fringe of a ruck on the Brumbies try line.

Soon thereafter, and with the Brumbies back on attack, the Bulls saw themselves a man down, again, with Derick Kuun being the culprit this time for committing a professional foul and placing his hands in the ruck.

Stirling Mortlock added three points as the Brumbies struggled to breach the Bulls defence in the 32nd minute.

It was the Bulls, though, that went into the half-time break with a 18-10 lead after Steyn had kicked over another penalty in the 38th minute.

Steyn was again on target in the 51st minute before Wynand Olivier stepped through the Brumbies defence to score near the poles on the hour mark to give the Bulls a commanding 28-10 lead.

The Brumbies had the final say as Peter Kimlin scored under the poles in the 65th minute but that was not enough to galvanise the Brumbies into fighting back and left the Australians winless in their two match tour of South Africa after losing to the Stormers last week.
