Cheetahs coach Rassie Erasmus made a few last minute changes to his starting line up. Meyer Bosman was dropped to the bench for the Cheetahs. Erasmus decided at the last minute to go with Willem de Waal instead and CJ van der Linde started with Trevor Leota.
The match opened with an explosive run by Cheetahs’ Fredericks who scored a try in under two minutes. It made a perfect start for the Cheetahs, unfortunately the match did not end that way for the Cheetahs.
The final score was Bulls 30 and the Cheetahs 18. The match was a tight affair and this was not helped by Hougaard missing 4 of his 8 kicks at goal.
