Super rugby AU : Standings | Fixtures | Super Rugby Aotearoa: Standings | Fixtures |

The third Super Rugby match on Saturday in Round Eight is in Pretoria South Africa where the Bulls host the Reds.

The Bulls have played six matches so far this season and they have won four, drawn one and lost one.

Much of the attention in South Africa has been on the Lions and the Stormers which has to some degree allowed the Bulls to fly a little under the radar. After an opening round loss and a draw in round four the Bulls are now on a three match winning streak.

The Reds on the other hand made an awful start to the season, lost their coach and started to show some signs of improvement before shocking just about everyone last week by beating the Highlanders. The Highlanders had been the form team as they had been on five match winning streak which was the longest running streak.

The Bulls have played the Reds 17 times in Super Rugby and they have won 7 matches and lost 10. That gives them a record of winning 41% of their matches against the Queenslanders.

In Pretoria the #Bulls have hosted the Reds 8 times and they have won 6 matches. That gives them a record of winning 75% of their home matches.

The average score when the Bulls host the Reds in Pretoria is Bulls 28 Reds 23. The last time the Reds won in Pretoria was in 2001 as they have lost their last six matches in the city.

In their last outing the Bulls beat the Rebels 45-25 and for this week they have made three changes. Bjorn Basson comes in to replace Jamba Ulengo on the wing, while Francois Brummer changes jerseys with Tian Schoeman at flyhalf.

Rudy Paige returns from injury and replaces Piet van Zyl who like Schoeman has been rotated to the replacements bench. The pack is unchanged.

The #Reds had their best result last week but were forced into change. Lock Rob Simmons has been replaced by Ben Matwijow due to a shoulder injury and the match will be Matwijow’s first start in Super Rugby.

There are also two changes to the bench, with uncapped Queensland Under-20s lock Lukhan Tui and scrumhalf James Tuttle in line to make their debut.

Tui’s inclusion follows Matwijow’s promotion to the starting side, while 2015 Queensland Country captain Tuttle has replaced injured Number 9 Scott Gale (hand).

The Reds were good last week but the Highlanders were their own worst enemy with handling errors. Due to this we are not convinced the Reds have fully turned the corner yet.

The Bookies have given the Reds a 9 point start for this Match – with an offer of up to $200 in Bonus bets The Bulls are tough to beat in Pretoria no matter who they are playing against. The Bulls should win this by 10.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on Sky Sports 5 on the red button.
